Federal Wage Hike – Running the numbers… or from them.

I’m going to share a few personal thoughts about this proposed wage hike that some of you may or may not agree with, but that I feel needs to be stated in simple terms. It amazes me that the entirety of congress, both GOP and Democrat alike, as well as the President and a special budget committee just managed to realize something that most 8 year-olds grasp when they learn the basics of operating a piggy bank. Today, after what I’m sure cost us taxpayers a few million dollars, a report was delivered to Congress that states in simple terms that if the federal government institutes a mandated minimum wage hike to $10.10, that some people will make more money but others will be left without jobs. Building Security – Epic Fail?

What happens when you drive up to a security checkpoint at a secure facility only to realize you’ve (quote accidentally) arrived bearing an arsenal? I had an appointment at what most would consider to be a “secure” facility earlier this week; a client of mine that shall remain nameless for the sake of embarrassment. Usually I drive up to the parking deck where the mall customers park, enter through the lobby, and navigate my way up the 30+ floors to meet with the customer. This time however, I was actually there with my team to perform an installation and the parking deck wasn’t exactly the easiest way to get our gear up to where it needed to be.
