Albemarle Town Council Firearms Law – Swings and Misses!

I thought long and hard about how to title this article. In the end, I took a page from the Fox News playbook with the idea that Incendiary Sells. Aw, c’mon, you clicked it didn’t you? Worked. I changed the original title after publication from “Albemarle Town Council Willfully Violates NC 2nd Amendment” to the new title, which I think more apt after further research. Read on. You’ll find it interesting if you care anything about firearms legislation. Let me recap for you so I can bring you up to speed. Around 2 in the morning on 4/18 I was unwinding; reading the news before going to bed. I clicked the local news section and came across an article written by Shannon Beamon for the Stanly News and Press (SNAP for short) titled “Council approves operation of ‘adult arcade’ on U.S. 52.” In all honesty, the term “adult arcade” was … Read the rest…

Personal Letter to Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring

Dear Attorney General Herring, I can only assume from your quotes read in today’s news regarding the cancellation of concealed handgun reciprocity with North Carolina that you sir have fallen on your head and somehow impaired your thinking. As a gun owner myself, and a firearms instructor, I humbly ask that you seek medical attention post-haste!  Surely, actually no.. FACTUALLY the reasons you state for changing reciprocity with some of these states are a complete and total fabrication lacking absolutely no evidence. In fact the reasons you stated make no sense whatsoever. I can only speak for North Carolina because I haven’t taken the time to research all the other states’ gun laws, but please allow me a moment to enlighten you as someone appears to have been filling your head with utter nonsense. Your Claim: According to you, North Carolina (by its inclusion in your new law) has a … Read the rest…

Which Cops Do You Want? Decide America!

Which one do you want to see on the streets every day, America? Because if we keep this up, we’re going to come to a turning point where it will be our citizens to blame.     Take a good long look at the images above and decide which one you want patrolling your streets, performing traffic stops, and knocking on your door. The decision is yours but you’d better decide soon before it gets decided for you. And I’m afraid you won’t like the outcome if the police get to decide. Cop Killing is Cool Now? It’s hard to believe I live in the country ours has become. As of today, there have been 24 cop murders this year, with 8 of them in last 9 days. I don’t mean cops shot in the line of duty. That’s sad enough. I mean sick twisted individuals just walking up and … Read the rest…

County Clerk Kim Davis, Marriage Rights, Religious Rights, and my thoughts…

I’ve been avoiding this article for a while now but I decided that this particular cup of coffee this morning provided me enough inspiration to get through it, so I’m going to share my thoughts on the matter since I have some time to kill before getting started on the day’s tasks ahead. If you don’t know the Kim Davis story by now, crawl out from under your rock and get some sunlight. Kim is the Rowan County Clerk in Kentucky that refused to provide marriage licenses to gay couples on grounds that it conflicts with her religious convictions. It went to court. She lost. She took it to the Supreme Court. She lost again. She still refuses to issue marriage licenses to gay couples because she says she’ll go to hell for it. Why isn’t she simply fired yet? Even as a Christian that shares some of her beliefs … Read the rest…

Muslim Free Zone = Lawsuit you idiots.

Ok, maybe no one will read this. Then again some people read stupid stuff all the time and maybe they’ll get around to this before they think about turning their business into a Muslim-Free zone. Let me clarify a few facts, so you don’t get biased off the get-go. I’m of the Christian faith. I’m white. I’m not racist. I’m not religiously zealous to the point of stupidity. I know the law. You can believe numbers one through four or not, but number five is a given. I’m also a business owner, so I’m required to know the laws that govern running a business, especially a small business. Some of you have seen the video going around; the one where store owner, Andy Hallinan from Florida Gun Supply declares his business a “Muslim-Free Zone.” If you’ve not seen it and want to, here’s the video: In support of his idea, … Read the rest…

Thomas Sullivan, Squire “Skip” Wells, David Wyatt, Carson Holmquist, Randall Smith

Read those names again, please. Those are the names you probably don’t know. We’ve certainly heard enough about Mohammad Abdulazeez to know his name by heart now, but few of us know the names of the soldiers we lost in the Chattanooga terrorist attack. Those are the names that should live on in our memories, in our thoughts, and that should be blasted across the media. Sadly, few of us will remember them tomorrow or next week. We aren’t likely to forget the name of the 24 year old that killed them though. If this is you, as it was me, you should feel ashamed. Write them down and remember them. They deserve it. Now, move on. It’s important that we do move on. It’s important for us as people and it’s important for us as a country. It’s important because we are becoming a country full of victims, a fact … Read the rest…

My Thoughts on the Canning Family Crisis

Rachel Canning – it’s a name everyone in America seems to know by heart already; though less than a week ago none of us knew a thing about her. In a matter of hours that changed and over the following days her name, her father Sean and her mother Elizabeth, have been cast into the spotlight in a way they all probably wish they hadn’t. Believe me, I know what they’re going through. Within the milliseconds it takes social media to work it’s magic, your life is dragged out for everyone on the planet to see. They delve into the deepest corners of your private life, dig up anything they can get their hands on that might be considered newsworthy, and every he-said/she-said that your family has ever been involved in is now a national headline and used to evaluate you from couches and computer screens across the world. Again, … Read the rest…

Pressure Cooker, Bombs, and the government, or not?

We live in a world where everyone with a keyboard and a wi-fi connection has the potential to stir up trouble. I’m speaking this time of a hugely false rumor circulating around the web about the government monitoring a family’s home internet connection and then searching their home. I saw the “actual” story when it hit the news, but that was quickly buried under articles from both news agencies and bloggers – anything to prove the government is spying on us, huh? The original article was boring, and fairly short. The rumor mills circulating the web when I woke up today, however, were a totally different story. Here’s the story as it has been circulated around the web. Michele Catalano’s house was searched by six agents from the JTTF after she searched for pressure cookers and her husband searched separately for backpacks. The next thing you know, black SUVs are … Read the rest…

Disproving Myths on the new NC Gun Laws

I knew it would be inevitable that media hype and ignorance would quickly permeate the blogosphere with regards to the new gun laws in NC, but I figured it would be moderately based in personal preference rather than outright distortion of fact or hyped one-liners. I read an article tonight that made me decide to go ahead and write this piece – and for those that show interest, I will be updating is as comments and questions require me to add additional information. To those at the Charlotte Observer – please outline your facts better before publishing them on your website for readers to accept as gospel. One-line zingers have no place in a gun-legislation discussion. This is one of those times that more info is better. Tell the WHOLE story, and the reasons for it. Don’t sensationalize to stir the pot. They have a section on the ad that … Read the rest…

Time To Make A Difference

I’m sitting here writing this out on my iPad. It’s been one of those days, that come up from time to time, when I feel like my abilities and ambitions are unmatched by what goes on in my daily life. I don’t actually know at the time of this dictation whether or not this post will ever make it to the website, but I feel it necessary to create it, just to help maybe get the thoughts out of my head and put onto paper. All the work we’ve been preparing for the overseas project that some of you have heard about has run into its traditional snags. Anytime a firm like mine has to deal with foreign governments, foreign laws, foreign accounting, and foreign politics all on the same project, things are bound to go awry. It’s nothing new. It happened on the last overseas project and it will … Read the rest…
